(brand name skintoskin®) 30th September 2011
The Candidate Mrs Donna Demir is the community manager for http://www.madeformums.com/local/walsall/
Contact donnademir@btinternet.com Donna’s two year old son suffers from Eczema and is the subject of this study.
The symptoms presented are typical in nature to those associated with atopic dermatitis (Eczema). Dark red patches in the skin are present on both torso and limbs. A high level of irritation accompanies the red patches leading to scratching. An itch scratch cycle is well developed with the candidate leading to further aggravation of the red skin patches and bleeding from open skin. Open skin is susceptible to bacterial infection specifically Staphylococcus Aureus. This trial was carried out in the candidate’s own home environment maintaining the family’s day to day routines and lifestyle.
The application of skintoskin® clothing.
The candidate was supplied with long sleeve shirts, leggings and boxer shorts from the skintoskin® range. The compilation of the garments is 70% Cotton, 20% Seaweed Extract and 10% Silver ions. The application was made by replacing the candidates day and night wear with the skintoskin garments on a day to day ongoing basis.
The results
A marked reduction in scratching was evident within the first day. The candidate’s scratching was stopped by day two breaking the itch scratch cycle allowing the skin to begin healing in an uninterrupted manner. On day four no visible sign of an open wound or bleeding was apparent. By day five the red patches were substantially reduced and paler in colour. The reduction continued in the following days giving the candidate a very high level of relief from the condition and a greatly reduced risk of infection.
A parents perspective.
Mrs Demirs first impression of the skintoskin® garments were the incredible softness and extremely high quality of manufacture. The garments retain their softness after washing with no shrinkage or apparent degradation to the garments. The garments retain this feel and the therapeutic properties regardless of how many wash cycles are carried out.
In conclusion
This UK study confirms findings made in previous studies performed in Portugal and Spain. The application of Silver, Seaweed and Cotton clothing has been shown to provide great benefits for Eczema sufferers and those suffering other chronic skin conditions. skintoskin® garments have shown high tolerability, with quality of manufacture giving good durability.
